The movement of goods and resources is expected to increase globally as the population grows. There is a pressing need to ensure goods are packaged to meet critical standards for security, efficiency and sustainability, so we can move them safely from A to B.
Marc Juwet is not unfamiliar with the challenges facing the movement of goods in today’s growing world. In fact, he has spent his career working with partners across the packaging value chain to shed light on solutions that address the wider load stability challenge in innovative and responsible ways.
The fact is global consumer demand is driving greater packaging needs in transportation and logistics. Around 67% of the world’s population will live in urban areas by 2050 according to the United Nations creating an increase in the movement of goods globally. In fact, there will be an 80% increase in freight transportation by 2050 (compared to 2005) meaning more needs to be done to advance film solutions in the industry that will support greater security, less waste, and higher performance in transportation.
But understanding the challenge is the first step. Only then will we be able to work towards enhanced load stability in the value chain, together. This is the first in a series of interviews with experts across the industry that will shine a light on the opportunity we face to do just that.
